Hospice Diagnosis
The hospice diagnosis is the determining factor that allows hospice to provide medications, DME, medical supplies that are related to the primary hospice diagnosis. The family/insurance will continue to provide medications that are not related to the non-hospice diagnosis.
For example:
The patient has a 25 year history of Type I diabetes, however the hospice diagnosis is dementia. Therefore the family/insurance will be responsible for the diabetes medications/supplies.
